I hope to one day write a more coherent and in-depth post on this topic, but let me just say, for now, that there are legitimate problems with American remakes.

  • I dislike how eighty percent of the media I’ve consumed in my lifetime is American, yet when a quality Scandinavian media product surfaces, it must be remade to fit American audiences.
  • I dislike how translations and remakes and what-have-yous often get censored and altered when they’re catered to the American market specifically (i.e. Men Who Hate Women being changed to The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo for some inexplicable reason).
  • I dislike how American folks tell me that it’s ~not a big deal when they’re surrounded by media in their own language that is made in their own culture and is catered specifically to them.

Just, everything about this.

…can I just, !!!!!!!

Today has been such an amazing day so far (AND IT’S ONLY 2:30PM, WHAT ELSE COULD THIS DAY POSSIBLY HAVE IN STORE???) and even though shitty things keep happening left and right, I feel completely UNTOUCHABLE. What a great feeling, and definitely something I haven’t felt in a long time. I don’t want to get used to it because, well, I’m a pessimist realist at the end of the day, but. It’s so nice to float on Cloud Nine every once in a while, you know?

GPOYW?? There are two holes in my favourite black cardigan, yet I continue to wear it on a pretty much daily basis. Pfffft my coworkers must think I’m a homeless person.
